Day 1

100 Days of Making AI Launch

100 Days of Making AI Launch

Today is the day!  I've been thinking about taking on this challenge for some time, but could never find a topic or theme that really felt worth investing 100 days.  Now I realize I'm using various LLMs to build thing and want to continue to develop my understanding and stay atop of the fast-paced changes.

My first "entry" today is a simple website that enables me to blog about the experience.  This isnt the most creative applicaiton of AI, but given that the entire website was generated in 10mins, it strikes me as an amazing starting point to recognize the shift happening in society.

Indeed, much of my time at ITP was spent learning new web frameworks, databases and APIs so that I could build the tools I wanted.  The learning process was painstaking long and full of frustrating moments.  While I can argue that those moments provided opportunities to build relationships with my peers by asking question and brainstorming, and that my brain was "forming" by critically analyzing and solving those problems, I can't help but wonder what would have been if I was able to get to the product faster.

And as I said, this website isn't some technically interesting or complex products.  It was created in 10 minutes with this prompt:

I am a creative technologies starting a new project.  The project is called 100 Days of Making AI.  Each day I will spend ~1.5 hours building some AI tools for 100 days.  The tools don't really matter, but what matters is that I spend the time making something.  Each project should be self contained and completed that day.  I am starting this project today.  The first project will be a website to host my daily creations.  I want to deploy this website on heroku and it should be a Python-based website.  The website itself should be simple.  The main page will display a square grid with an image.  Each image on the grid will be a project that I make.  Each image will link to a blog post that I create about the project.  The website will need a backend so I can create each web page, but this should be very simple.  I really just need a place to create the name, upload an image, and then write HTML for the page.  The square grid of images should be in date order with the newest post towards the top.  In doing so, users can see the entire list of 100 projects.  The website will need some basic authentication.  This url is my current portfolio and I would like to replicate the style - https://www.nejohnson2.com/.   The 100-Days-Of-Making-AI will also have an about page, but nothing else. Please generate a plan for development and ask me any questions.

But now I have a customized tool to enable me to do something I've been looking forward to doing for some time.

Special thanks to Katherine Dillon for her inspiration here!
