WASDE Forecasting
In my previous role, I spent a lot of time developing reports related to global food security. One key piece of information that was included in that report was the USDA's World Agriculture Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE). The WASDE is an essential product to understand global food commodities. The information however, is not always easliy understood. The balance sheets are generated once per year, but updated monthly for future projects and to make updates based on new information (from previous months).
I always wanted to do something more intesting with this infromation, so today I spent some time thinking about how to forecast WASDE information. Working with Claude, I was able to generate a forecasting model, as well as doing some exploratory analysis.
