What is famine?
I'm reminded of an excellent book that I read called "Famine that kills". It's an intense book that follows the a famine in Sudan. But really the book explores what is a famine? And how it is defined across different cultures.
Harking back to my previous work, I've created someone of a shortcut to understanding famine classificiation - the IPC system. This repository has a extensive literature review of data sources related to famine and used in the IPC classification process. It took me many years to understand everything that's in here, but now I can create a shortcut/cliff notes in 10 minutes.
I also hit the IPC API and create these maps of Phase 3 or higher.
